Privacy policy

This policy covers this website — the pages and articles you are reading now. The LipeLight tracking app is a separate system with its own account and its own privacy policy, which you will be shown when you sign up.

What this website collects

Nothing that identifies you. Reading an article on this site does not require an account and does not create one. There is no advertising network here, no social media pixel, and no fonts loaded from someone else's server.

We do measure which pages get read:

• Cloudflare Web Analytics. Counts page views without cookies and without building a profile. It cannot follow you between websites.
• Google Analytics. Reports how people arrive and which articles they read. It sets cookies, and your IP address is shortened before it is stored. Google processes this data as our provider.

This reporting is about totals — which article was popular this week, roughly which country readers came from. It does not tell us who you are, and it is not used to build a profile of an individual reader. If you would rather not be counted at all, any browser tracking-protection setting, a content blocker, or the “Do Not Track” option will exclude you, and the site works exactly the same.

Two exceptions, both of which you cause deliberately:

• The contact form. If you send a message we store the name, email address and message text you typed, so that we can reply. Nothing else.
• The language switch. Choosing Arabic or English may set one cookie remembering the choice, so that the front door sends you to the right language next time. It contains the two letters ar or en and nothing else.

The self-check

If you complete the self-check, we keep one anonymous copy of your answers to build a picture of how this condition actually presents in Arabic-speaking women — something no published research currently describes. That copy has no name, no email, no IP address and no timestamp finer than the month, and there is deliberately no token or identifier anywhere in it that could ever be matched to an account. If you then create an account, the answers are copied into your private diary by your own browser, which means this site never learns which submission became which account. That is a property of how it is built, not a policy we could change our minds about. Nothing is saved at all unless you reach the last screen.

Server logs

Like every web server, ours records requests: the page requested, the time, the browser type and the IP address. These are used to keep the site running and to spot abuse. They are not linked to any identity and are not used to build a profile of you.

Health information

Reading about a health condition is sensitive, and we treat it that way. The audience measurement described above is anonymous and aggregate: it records that an article was read, never that you read it. Nothing you read here is recorded against your name, sold, or passed to an advertiser, and we do not use it for advertising or remarketing.

Your self-check answers and anything you keep in the tracking app are never sent to any analytics tool. If you would rather leave no trace at all, the site works normally through a VPN, a privacy-focused browser, or with a content blocker switched on.

What we never do

• Sell or rent your information to anyone.
• Share your contact message beyond the people who answer it.
• Add you to a mailing list because you wrote to us once.

Your rights

You can ask us what we hold about you, ask for it to be corrected, or ask for it to be deleted. Write to the contact address and we will do it.

Children

This site is written for adults. Lipedema often begins at puberty, and we know teenagers read pages like this one; nothing here is harmful to them, but we do not knowingly collect information from anyone under 16.

Changes

If this policy changes in a way that matters, the date at the top changes with it.
